Overview

Krujë is a town and a municipality in north-central Albania. Located between Mount Krujë and the Ishëm River, the city is only 20 km north from the capital of Albania, Tirana. Kruja is a small town, so we can explore it on foot.

Itinerary

Stops at: The bazaar of Kruja, Krujë Albania

The bazaar is made up of wooden stands with a special design, unique in the region.
There you can buy souvenirs, handmade carpets, jewelry, traditional clothing, old tools that can be found. Dozens of souvenir sellers are here settled down. They sell alongside Albanian cabaret and traditionally made Craft items.

Stops at: The castle of Kruja, Krujë Albania

The cobblestone street leads us to the castle of the city that was a major obstacle to the expansion of the Ottoman Empire in Western Europe. The castle withstood three sieges and it finally fell in 1478, ten years after the death of Gjergj Kastrioti.

Stops at: National Skanderbeg Museum, Krujë Albania

National Skanderbeg Museum was created in 1982 and there you can find a copy of the sword and the helmet from the Scanderbeg, as well as the Flags and tribes of the main families who supported the national hero. In this Museum you will learn about the history of Albania under the guidance of our national hero.

Stops at: National Ethnographic Museum, Krujë Albania

There you can experience how rich Albanian families lived 250 years ago. The walls of the museum
have a 250-year-old wooden ceiling, very rare furniture, old-style carpets and also
traditional costumes are on display.

We can go to one of the bars that serve Turkish coffee on the bazaar street which serves a beautiful view of the terracotta roofs of Kruja and the Adriatic sea.
